These iPads have support for iPados 26 (and not)

iPados 26 appears to the general public in September, but is not compatible with all iPads – these iPads do have support.

Which iPads do iPados 26 get?

With the update to iPados 26, Apple has given the operating system of your iPad a new look, called Liquid Glass. Parts seem to be on top of the screen, like a kind of glass miniatus that can change shape. Beams, buttons and controllers have also received this new look. The color of the surrounding content is reflected on the ‘glass’, which also adapts to light and dark environments.

In addition to a new appearance, the update naturally also brings new functions to your iPad. Some apps are also better cleaned up. For example, the camera app has received a new look and its functions are now easier to find.

But of course you only get the new design and the new functions this fall if you have an iPad that supports iPados 26. Apple has since indicated which iPads will receive the update and which do not. If you have one of the following iPads, you can without any doubt the update to iPados 26 in September:

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018 and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (2015 and later)
  • iPad Air (2019 and later)
  • iPad (2020 and later)
  • iPad Mini (2019 and later)

The iPad 2019 (7th generation) is falling

This means that the only iPad model that supports iPados 18, but not iPados 26 is the cheaper iPad 2019. If you have an iPad that is even older than the versions mentioned above, then you also fall outside the boat. But that was already the case last year, with the update to iPados 18.

The final version of iPados 26 is only planned when the new iPhones appear. That is probably being in September. Usually on the second Tuesday of September. This year it will fall on September 9.
