At the beginning of this year, we were able to take a first look at Android 13 and Google’s vision for this new Android version. Meanwhile, many manufacturers are still rolling out Android 12 to their phones. In this article you will find a number that can soon count on Android 12 or receive this update now.
These smartphones now get Android 12
OPPO has started the rollout of Android 12 and ColorOS 12 for the OPPO Find X2 Pro in the Netherlands, Eric tipped us. He has since installed the update on his Find X2 Pro and could say the following about it: “I think it looks suspiciously like OxygenOS from OnePlus what I know from the 9 Pro.” In 2020, this phone received an update to Android 11. OPPO gives the Find X2 Pro three new Android versions, so Android 13 is still in the barrel.
These Sony smartphones will soon get Android 12
At the beginning of this year, the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III received an update to Android 12 and now Sony reports on Instagram that the Xperia 10 II from 2020 and the Xperia 10 III from 2021 are next for a new Android version. It is not known what owners can expect from an update after Android 12. Sony is very unclear about that. The company only says it updates its smartphones to “industry standards”, but does not provide concrete information about how long and with what frequency it will continue to update its phones.
These OnePlus smartphones will soon get Android 12
OnePlus is a open beta of OxygenOS 12 launched for the 2019 OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. OxygenOS 12 is based on Android 12. Owners of these phones can test the software and pass feedback on to OnePlus. Once all issues and bugs have been ironed out, OnePlus will roll out the stable version to all OnePlus 7 (Pro) owners. The OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T can also count on an update to Android 12. These phones have recently also participated in an open beta.
The OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus 9 series will receive three Android updates and four years of security updates. The OnePlus 7 series came with Android 9.0 Pie and then received an update to Android 11. Unfortunately, we do not know what is planned after Android 12.
