This Apple app on your iPhone will soon have many more functions

It’s a popular Apple app that’s getting a major upgrade in one of the upcoming iOS updates – here’s what you can expect soon.

This Apple app will have many more features

The Apple app we’re talking about is the Health app. Many rumors have appeared about this app over the past year. Furthermore, Tim Cook has stated that health is going to be one of Apple’s biggest contributions to society. The new Health app features will be coming to your iPhone in a few months. We have already listed them for you.

Simplified design

According to one report by Filipe Esposito of Macworld, Apple will redesign the Health app in iOS 26.4. There will be several major upgrades, including a new classification for categories and simplified recording of measurement data.

It’s not clear what else will change, but as this Apple app becomes increasingly important, it makes sense that the design will be overhauled to make it easier to use. If all goes according to plan, we should see iOS 26.4 in beta as soon as next month, with a release sometime in the spring.

Food tracking

In a newsletter last year reported Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says one of the features of Apple’s new Health app is meal tracking. The purpose of this is to help users track calories and lose weight:

“Food tracking will be a particularly big part of the revamped app. That’s an area that Apple has mostly avoided, so far, though the current Health app does let you enter data for things like carbohydrates and caffeine. Going big on food tracking would mean challenging services such as MyFitnessPal and, to some extent, weight-management apps like Noom.”

“Food tracking will be a particularly important part of the updated app. That’s an area that Apple has largely avoided so far, although the current Health app does allow you to enter data for things like carbs and caffeine. By betting big on food tracking, Apple would compete with services like MyFitnessPal and, to some extent, weight management apps like Noom.”

Health+ videos

Apple also plans to launch a video service similar to Apple Fitness+, although that service likely won’t be called Health+. It allows you to watch videos from doctors for help and to learn more about your health.

According to Bloomberg Apple wants to enlist sleep experts, nutritionists, mental health experts, physiotherapists and cardiologists to create how-to videos for the Apple app. One of the ideas behind these videos is that if your Health app detects a negative trend, you’ll see a video with advice on how to improve it.

AI Agent

In addition to videos and nutritional tracking, Apple is also working on an AI agent. That will likely be part of the same Apple Health+ service described above. Apple’s AI Agent collects all Apple Health data from your paired devices and provides you with health recommendations based on what the agent has learned. This person can also provide nutritional advice.

There may also be features that let you use your iPhone’s rear camera to share a real-time view of your workout. The officer could then provide advice on how to improve your posture.

All in all, the Health app in iOS 26.4 seems to be a pretty remarkable innovation. So we expect a new design, AI agent, food tracking and health videos. Obviously there may be delays, but current reports say everything is scheduled to launch with iOS 26.4. Don’t want to miss anything? Then sign up for our newsletter!
