The new year has only recently begun and Apple has already labeled an Apple Watch as vintage. You need to know this.
This Apple Watch is now officially vintage
Apple recently stated that all variants of the Apple Watch Series 4 are now considered vintage worldwide. This includes both the aluminum and stainless steel versions in sizes 40 mm and 44 mm. The Apple Watch Series 4 was announced in September 2018. It was the first time that the Apple Watch was redesigned. The Series 4 got larger displays, thinner edges and rounder corners.
With the release of watchOS 11 this past year, Apple officially ended software support for the Apple Watch Series 4. The Apple Watch Series 4 received watchOS 10 as the last major update.

Vintage and outdated
To be clear, Apple considers a product vintage when it has not been distributed for more than five years. If a product has not been distributed for more than seven years, Apple labels it globally obsolete. Vintage products such as the Apple Watch Series 4 are still eligible for repair. At least as long as parts are still available. Outdated products, on the other hand, are no longer eligible for repair.
In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple has also added the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro model to its list of vintage products. This is the last 15-inch MacBook Pro that Apple released. This MacBook Pro was replaced in November of the same year by the 16-inch MacBook Pro (the latter with an Intel processor). Unlike the Apple Watch Series 4, the 2019 MacBook Pro can still run the latest version of the operating system.
In July 2024, Apple also added the iPhone X, the first generation of AirPods and the original HomePod to the list of vintage products.
