This costs the electric Opel Frontera: from €30,000

It was already expected that the brand new electric Opel Frontera Electric could be marketed quite interestingly in terms of price. What seems? That is the case. The Opel Frontera Electric has a starting price of less than €30,000, making it more than 5 grand less expensive than the smaller Mokka Electric.

Stellantis’ Smart Car Platform, which has helped ensure that the Citroën (e-)C3 has relatively low starting prices, is used by Opel for the brand new Frontera. The new Opel Frontera is available, just like the C3, with mild-hybrid powertrains, but as Frontera Electric it also comes with fully electric powertrains. However, it is a good size larger and is even considerably bigger than the Opel Mokka. What seems? Despite its larger exterior dimensions, the Opel Frontera is a lot less expensive than the Mokka thanks to its cheaper technical basis.

The Opel Frontera Hybrid – with 100 hp mild-hybrid 1.2 three-cylinder (+28 hp) – is available from €29,499. For those for whom that is not enough, Opel also has a mild-hybrid Frontera Hybrid with a 136 hp 1.2 on offer. The fully electric Opel Frontera Electric is available from €30,499. The electric Opel Mokka Electric is available – with a 50 kWh battery and 136 hp electric motor – from €36,999.

Opel is still withholding extensive technical specifications for that electric version. We do know that there will be a variant with a range of 300 kilometers and that there is a Long Rangeversion with a range of 400 kilometers becomes available. Opel supplies the Frontera Hybrid and Frontera Electric as an Edition and as a GS.

The new Opel Frontera is initially only available as a five-seater. Opel confirms that the Frontera – as AutoWeek expected – will eventually also be available with seven seats.

For the time being, these are the only prices and specifications that Opel communicates. We asked Opel for more prices and specifications. If we have it, you can read it on AutoWeek.
