This exclusive iPhone 16 function comes to older iPhones

Function of the iPhone 16

There is another test version of iOS 18.4 available! With iOS 18.4 Beta 2, there are mainly small changes to your iPhone. This way you get new emoji, the photos app has a number of new buttons and the Wallet app gets an extra menu. That is not all, because with the new test version of iOS 18.4 there will also be an exclusive function from the iPhone 16 to a number of older iPhones.

The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max are the first devices with the new camera control. With this button you get direct access to almost all camera functions of the iPhone. One of these is Visual Intelligence, a function of Apple Intelligence that is currently only available on the iPhone 16 (Plus) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). That will change with iOS 18.4, because then Visual Intelligence also comes to the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Visual Intelligence

In the second test version of iOS 18.4, Visual Intelligence is available on the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With Visual Intelligence you can look up information via the camera app. All you have to do is take a photo of an object, then information then appears via Apple Intelligence. For example, you can take a picture of a cafe or restaurant. On the basis of this photo, the iPhone Visual Intelligence uses to look up the opening times and menu of the case.

Visual Intelligence is a function that is activated on the iPhone 16 (Plus) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) with the camera control. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max do not have this button, so they had to do it without visual intelligence. From iOS 18.4, Visual Intelligence comes to the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). The Apple Intelligence function can then be used via the action button or via a controller in the control panel.

It is a logical step for Apple, because Visual Intelligence is now available on all devices that have support for Apple Intelligence. On the iPhone 16 series, Visual Intelligence from iOS 18.4 can also be linked to the action button. The function is therefore no longer limited to the camera control. In the Netherlands and Belgium we don’t notice much of the change yet, because Apple Intelligence is not yet available here.

Do you have an iPhone 15 Pro or an iPhone 15 Pro Max? Then you get a function of the iPhone 16 with the European release of Apple Intelligence. It is not yet known when Apple Intelligence is available in Dutch. In France and Germany, Apple Intelligence can be used much earlier, but in the Netherlands and Belgium there have to be waiting for it.
