The Galaxy S22 series has a useful feature in the gallery app that allows you to remove shadows and reflections in photos. This feature is now also available for other Galaxy phones.
Google Magic Eraser Alternative
Samsung first offered an object removal feature on its Galaxy S4 and S5 smartphones. Then the feature disappeared until it suddenly reappeared on the Galaxy S21 series last year. Samsung has significantly improved the feature on the Galaxy S22 series and now offers the option to remove shadows and reflections in photos. This feature, which competes with Google’s Magic eraser, is fortunately not an exclusive feature for the new flagships.
Samsung is making the new feature available through an update for the Photo Editor App at the Galaxy Store. With the feature now available via an app update, owners of the Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy S20 FE, as well as mid-rangers such as the Galaxy A52 can also take advantage of it.
Here you will find the Eraser for object function
You’ll find the option in the Gallery app when you tap edit on a photo. Then tap the three dots at the bottom right and then Eraser for object† Here you can tap and draw an area in the photo to erase the shadows or reflections. Removing reflections isn’t perfect yet, but it’s still pretty neat to look at. Don’t see the option to erase shadows or reflections yet? Then make sure you have them enabled via the Labs feature:
- Open the Samsung Gallery app
- Tap the photo you want to edit and tap the pencil
- Tap the three dots at the bottom right
- Tap ‘Labs’ and activate both options
