Does your iPhone (too) go empty quickly? Then we have good news, because Apple comes with a new battery function for the iPhone. That’s how it works!
iOS 26
Apple has unveiled iOS 26! With the update, the operating system gets a completely new interface and the company introduces many functions on the iPhone. That is not all, because many Apple applications get a new layout. For example, the camera, photo and settings app look differently in iOS 26. With the latter, Apple has added a handy battery function that greatly improves the battery of the iPhone.
The battery settings of the iPhone have been redesigned in iOS 26. You get a clearer insight into daily power consumption and what the status of the battery is. The iPhone gets a long -awaited battery function, because from iOS 26 you can finally see how long the device still needs to charge. In the settings, the iPhone shows how many minutes (or hours) it takes before the device is fully recharged.

New battery function
Do you have an iPhone 15 or newer? In that case you will get a new battery function, because the iPhone first has Adaptive Power from iOS 26. With this feature, your iPhone automatically adjusts the power consumption, so that your iPhone lasts longer after charging. It concerns minor adjustments to power consumption, such as reducing the screen brightness or delaying certain tasks.
With Adaptive Power it takes longer to perform some tasks, but therefore the battery of your iPhone is less likely to empty. The smart battery function only does this if the power consumption of the iPhone is higher than normal. Does the battery percentage fall to twenty percent? Then the energy saving mode is automatically switched on, so that the iPhone will last for as long as possible.

Release of iOS 26
You can find the new battery functions from iOS 26 in a new menu at the settings of your iPhone. Apple has added a part under the name ‘Start -up mode’, which did not yet exist in iOS 18. There you will find Adaptive Power and the energy saving mode in iOS 26. It is quite possible that Adaptive Power in the Netherlands and Belgium will be given a different name in a later (test) version of iOS 26.
Developers can already get started with the first test versions of iOS 26. The update will only be available later for all users. Apple usually publishes the largest software updates of the year in September. It is expected that iOS 26 Monday, September 15, 2025 can be installed on all iPhones with support for the update.
