Apple wants to prevent rumors about the iPhone 13 at all costs. The company does this by equipping staff with cameras. If these images appear online later, Apple will know who has talked her/his mouth.
‘This is how Apple wants to prevent iPhone 13 rumors’
Only staff members who deal directly with unannounced products would receive such a camera. This sits on the chest and films everything the employees do.
The news was brought out by Jon Prosser. Regular readers of iPhoned will recognize the name. Prosser is a so-called leaker: someone who spreads news about unannounced products. Most leakers work together with (anonymous) employees of tech companies.
Apple on the warpath
Apple is regularly at loggerheads with spreaders of rumors about unannounced devices. For example, most recently, the company sent a lawyer’s letter to Kang, one of the most accurate sources of unannounced Apple stuff.
Apple also has the Dutchman behind the popular YouTube channel Concept Creator addressed. Jermaine Smit received a letter from Apple in which the company demands that he stop making concepts. These computer animations are based on rumors and show what new (Apple) stuff might look like.
According to Apple, leaks are harmful to the company because they expose competitively sensitive information. In recent months, for example, a lot has come out about the iPhone 13 series, while the devices will only be presented this fall.

About the Apple cameras
According to Prosser, Apple uses the Axon Body 2 cameras to equip staff. These cameras are also used by police officers and security guards and record not only images, but also audio.
Apple started shipping the cameras a few weeks ago, according to Prosser. Only employees who are directly involved with brand new products would have been given a camera.
