HBO Max has been officially available in the Netherlands since the beginning of March. The streaming service offers a wide range of films and series, and also knows that sometimes people can no longer see the wood for the trees. For the people who lack inspiration, there is now a shuffle button. That button works slightly differently than Netflix’s Play Something button.
HBO Max does it differently
Pressing Netflix’s Play Something button will play random content. Netflix of course takes your viewing behavior into account so that you are not suddenly presented with a romcom while you into are terrified. HBO Max also wants to help the uninspired person with a nice content with such a button. Everything to keep the user on the streaming platform, of course. HBO Max does give you more control over what you see, rather than the algorithm.
After pressing the button, you can first choose a series yourself. HBO Max then shows an episode from that series. No, you don’t fall right into the middle of a story. These are series with separate storylines.
