This is how you now install the Windows 11 22H2 update

The Windows 11 update that will be released in the second half of 2022 is already available and downloadable via the Release Preview Channel. If you can’t wait to get started with the new options, you can update early this way.

While Windows 11 receives regular updates, major feature updates are only released annually. That need not be a problem, because this gives Microsoft enough time to properly work out and refine the various options, so that the chance of problems only decreases.

The next major update for Windows 11 is 22H2. That abbreviation stands for the second half of 2022. If you see H1 somewhere, it stands for the first half of the year. The 22 changes to 23 next year; so the language here is quite simple.

As it stands now, the Windows 11 22H2 update will be out sometime in September. Then everyone with a suitable device can automatically expect the update on his or her computer. However, the update is already available in the Release Preview Channel† This means that basically anyone – of course with a suitable PC – can download and install the update.

The update may still contain errors, so do this at your own risk or on a computer or laptop that you don’t need all day to avoid being temporarily without a work device. Okay, now it’s time to download.

Download Windows 11 22H2

Before we can download the Windows 11 22H2 update, you need to make sure your Windows device is up to date. Check via ISettings > Windows Update whether or not an update is secretly ready. Download and install available content so we can proceed to the next step. This is how you now install the Windows 11 22H2 update.

Open Settings and search Diagnostics and feedback on. You can do this via the search field, but also via the heading for your privacy. Click on it and select the option to send the optional data. You do this by moving the slider to the right so that it turns blue. That is the first step of this small business.

Now we go to Windows Update within the settings application. Then look for the option for the Windows Insider program within this new screen. Click on that, wait a few seconds and then right click on the blue button so that the update can begin. Now it is important that you log in with the same Microsoft account that is active on the current device.

To agree

Then click again on the blue button, on the left, with which you confirm that you agree with the terms and conditions of Microsoft. In the next screen, choose the bottom option (Release Preview) and press the blue button again to continue. Now you have to agree to additional conditions again and it is important to restart the computer after this process.

From this point on, you’ll always get an early version of Windows 11 on your current computer, whenever it’s available. It is a version that is as good as finished, so that errors are kept to a minimum; but remember this is not risk free. By the way, after starting up, check for new updates under Windows Updatethen 22H2 will come to the fore on its own.
