Oops: closed a tab in Safari when you actually needed it. Don’t panic, you can easily reopen it on both Mac and iOS. You can read how in this article.
Reopen tabs
If you are using Safari on iOS or the Mac, you may find it annoying if you accidentally close a tab. Especially if you weren’t paying attention to what it was or if it was an important tab whose url you don’t remember. Fortunately, it is easy to retrieve, although you need to know how.
In iOS, it is easy to close tabs in the Safari app. Tap the two squares at the bottom right of the screen to open all tabs, then you can press the crosses to remove them. You can also swipe them to the left if you find it easier.
Open closed Safari tabs on iOS
Do you have a lot of tabs and are you happily swiping, but accidentally throw away a tab that you still needed? Don’t panic, here’s what you can do:
- Keep your finger on the plus button at the bottom of the screen for a long time;
- A window opens with ‘Recently closed tabs’;
- Tap the tab you want to retrieve.
You do this on the Mac
Safari for the Mac also has a simple solution if you accidentally close a tab. Press cmd + z on the keyboard to reopen the last closed tab. You can also do this via ‘Restore Close Tab’ via the ‘Edit’ menu of Safari itself, which you see at the top of your screen. However, you can only open one tab this way, so be a little careful.
