This is how you set up the lock screen of your smartphone

Most people know that we can adjust our home screen and make it fun with a number of widgets. But did you know that you can also design your lock screen yourself? This makes access to certain apps or contacts a lot easier. Do you want to customize your lock screen? You do that like this!

The lock screen is the screen that you see when you press the on / off button on your smartphone once. Despite the fact that we still pay little attention to our lock screen, partly due to the arrival of fingerprint scanners and face recognition, there are still some external adjustments that you can make. To get started, go to ‘Settings‘and then choose’Lock screen‘.

Adjust clock

To adjust the size of your clock and its appearance, go to the ‘Lock screen’ option under ‘Lock screen clock format‘. If you tap on this, you will see multiple layouts. Drag to the left to view multiple options and select the layout that appeals to you the most. In some cases you can still choose to adjust other things, for example the color of the clock or to add a name.

Customize theme

Some phones also let you customize the theme of your lock screen. This is slightly different from any image you have set for this. This theme functions as an extra layer over your lock screen, as it were, and is always active. Here you can select separate clock settings or wallpaper for your lock screen. Keep in mind that this is at the expense of your battery.

Shortcuts

You can also set certain shortcuts via the lock screen. For example if you want to quickly start your camera. This can be done, for example, by pressing the volume button down twice quickly. Look within the possibilities of your device which shortcuts you can set.

notifications

At your lock screen you can also set what action to take when you receive a notification. For example, you can light up your screen with a short animation that draws attention to the new notification. Per app you can set how much information you want to see with this notification on your lock screen. You can choose: no notification, all notifications or ‘hide sensitive content’.
