This is how you share Apple Maps directions from your Mac to iPhone

Do you use Apple Maps on your iPhone or Mac (Book)? Then you may not yet know that you can easily forward directions from your Mac to your iPhone. We show how this works.

Share Apple Maps directions

Apple Maps has a feature on macOS to share directions to your iPhone. This is useful, because it allows you to search for a location on your Mac (Book) and send directions directly to your iPhone.

You will then automatically receive a notification on your iPhone, which you tap to start navigating. If you want to use this feature, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Maps app on your Mac (Book) and search for a location;
  2. Request the route, after which you have several directions to choose from on the left;
  3. Then tap the share icon (to the right of the search bar) and choose ‘Send to iPhone from…’;
  4. Once you have done this, a notification from the Maps app will appear on your iPhone. In the application you only have to click on ‘Start’ to start navigating.

In the Maps app on the Mac, you have many more options for sharing directions. Via the share button you can, for example, forward routes to your friends via Messages or AirDrop, but you can also save them in the Notes app or email them to others.
