Google is working hard on a feature that shows the air quality in your area on your smart display. Google uses the well-known air quality index for this. At the moment it has already been rolled out to a limited group of users.

Google Nest Hub

Smart displays such as the Google Nest Hub prefer to be the central point in your smart home. If you want to go outside for a walk, you can see what the weather is like at a glance on the Google Nest Hub. The information can also apply that principle to the air quality in your area.

Google made announced in September that the Nest Hub is based on the air quality index will show how healthy the outdoors is. For this it works together with partner PurpleAir, which processes data on air pollution, pollen and so on. When a score with red, purple or brown color is shown on the Nest Hub, it may be wise to postpone a run for a while.

This is how you turn on air quality

Google is rolling out the feature to more and more users, we see that on social media as reddit. For many people, there is already the option in the settings of the Nest Hub to turn on the air quality, but the score does not yet appear on the screen. We explain how to turn it on.

  1. Open Google Home on your phone
  2. Tap your Nest Hub
  3. Choose Edit photo frame
  4. Tap below air quality on To show

No success yet?

If that doesn’t show the air quality score on the screen, it may help to sign up for the Nest Hub preview program. Some users did get the air quality on the screen this way. With the preview program, you will get new features first, but at the same time you can expect more bugs on your device. To sign up for this, in your Nest Hub settings, choose Device Details and Preview program. Tap the button Participate in program.

If the preview program is also unsuccessful, there is no other option than to be patient a little longer. Make sure that the Air quality option remains on, because then you will be surprised one day with the score on your screen.

In time, an information card should appear on the Nest Hub where Google also explains the air quality in words, but it is not yet active. Do you already have the air quality score on the screen of your smart display? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
