In a new Research by CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) can be seen that the sale of the iPhone 16 Pro is disappointing compared to last year. The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max together accounted for 38 percent of the iPhone sales in the first quarter. This was last year with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max still 45 percent.

But something striking happened with the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro accounted for around 22 percent of sales in 2024. That was a lot less when selling the iPhone 16 Pro in this year. The sale of the 16 Pro accounted for only 17 percent of the total iPhone sales. Incidentally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max dropped to 21 percent (of 23 percent with the iPhone 15 Pro Max).

With the iPhone 16 sales things are a lot better than last year. The iPhone 16 was, in fact, captured 20 percent of sales. This is in contrast to the iPhone 15 from last year that consisted only 14 percent of the sale. These figures are based on iPhone selling in America. But also in the Netherlands, the iPhone 16 currently sells better than the iPhone 16 Pro.

The sales of the iPhone 16 Plus are about the same as those with the iPhone 15 Plus from last year. This device is still the least popular of the current iPhones with about 9 percent of sales. But the sale remains stable it seems.

Yet Apple is certainly not doing badly with the sale of the iPhone 16. The four standard models of the iPhone 16 with the iPhone 16th accounts for 74 percent of the total iPhone sales in America. That is more than the 68 percent that the iPhone 15 achieved in March 2024.

A comment must be made here, because in 2024 there were four iPhone 15 models in contrast to the five iPhone 16 models that we have this year. The sales of the iPhone 16th seem to explain the difference.

But actually it is not very strange that more people have chosen the iPhone 16 and ignore the iPhone 16 Pro. This year the specifications of the standard models are very close to those of the Pro models. In addition, many other things have become considerably more expensive and the cut is more often. It is therefore not strange to choose the cheaper model when you are looking for a new iPhone.
