Electric MPV passes the Dutch market

This is the electric Volvo EM90: by far Volvo’s largest EV

AutoWeek can show you the electric Volvo EM90 well before Volvo itself has unveiled it. The car does not have great relevance for the European market. The electric MPV is not coming our way.

While Volvo is still busy unveiling the EM90 step by step, AutoWeek can already show you the brand new large electric MPV in its entirety. We have to calm down anyone who immediately has their wallet ready to order the colossus. At the beginning of October, the Dutch importer confirmed to AutoWeek that the Volvo EM90 will not be available in the Netherlands and will not even come to Europe at all. Still, we would like to show you the Volvo EM90, because Volvo has never had an MPV in its range before.

The Volvo EM90 is certainly not a small boy. The database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology where we found these photos shows that the electric MPV is 5.21 meters long, 2.02 meters wide and 1.86 meters high. There is a distance of no less than 3.2 meters between the front and rear axle. It is not lightweight either. The EM90 weighs 2,763 kilos.

The EM90 is the technical brother of the Zeekr 009. The dimensions of Volvo’s MPV correspond to those of its sister model from Zeekr. The Zeekr 009 is available with two electric motors that together produce 544 hp and the EM90 also seems to have that drivetrain. So you can count on the fact that the Volvo EM90 has a 116 kWh or 140 kWh battery pack, just like the 009. Most of the bodywork of the EM90 also corresponds to that of the 009. However, the EM90 has a more Volvo-like front and the rear of Volvo’s largest EV is also different from that of the technical original.

Would you still find the Volvo EM90 a welcome addition to the current model range in the Netherlands? Why or why not?
