Geneva Motor Show 2024

This week, for the first time in years, it is time for the one and only Geneva Motor Show. AutoWeek was of course there and the camera worked overtime. And while it was the smallest edition that we can remember.

This week the halls of Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland are once again bustling with activity, because it is finally time for the 91st edition of what we now know as the Geneva International Motor Show. To be honest, it’s not as big a party as it once was. The only major Western manufacturers listed are Renault and Dacia. The two of them take up almost half of the hall with all the new cars. Other well-known names come from further afield. For example, BYD is present with, among other things, the YangWang U8 and nowadays it also mainly shows Chinese MG, including the MG 3 and the new brand IM. Geneva almost seems like a Chinese party: BYD also announced that it would bring Denza to Europe, it showed the facelifted Tang and also introduced a plug-in hybrid variant of the Seal U.

Of course, there are not only Chinese brands on the Swiss trade fair floor. Lucid Motors is also present: it will present the Gravity in Geneva, which is now also intended for Europe. Smaller players are also there: ErreErre Fuoriserie has brought its bizarre creation based on an Alfa Romeo Giulia, Kimera is showing the spectacular EVO38 and the mischievous Microlino is also present.

The show-stealer, however, is the new Renault 5, which actually didn’t even need the relatively enormous stand to attract the largest groups of people on the press day. There are also crowds at Dacia, because in addition to the new Duster, the even fresher, refreshed Spring can also be admired there. Anyone who has had enough of all the modern stuff can go one floor higher with a quite diverse collection of classics. The most striking car we see there? The Matra-Simca Rancho. Would you like to see it all yourself? Then you can visit Geneva until March 3, or of course browse through our most beautiful photos above.
