This is the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic!

Anyone who says GLA must also say AMG. There are already heavy 45-AMG versions of the majority of the compact Mercedes-Benz models and now that mountain of horny Benzen is being expanded with a higher model: the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic.

At the end of last year, the first-generation GLA, which had reached the age of years, gave way to a brand-new series, a generation with an appearance that makes it possible to distinguish the GLA more clearly from the A-class this time. At the presentation of the model Mercedes-Benz immediately pushed the GLA 35 4Matic forward, a 306 hp petrol version that now has to tolerate this heavy GLA 45 4Matic and its S version above it.

The absolute top version of the GLA family has a 387 hp and 480 Nm blown 2.0 under the hood, a four-cylinder that is a lot more powerful than the 381 hp 2.0 from the previous GLA 45 AMG. The gasoline engine is coupled to an AMG Speedshift 8 automatic transmission with double clutch that distributes power across all four wheels. A sprint from a standstill to a speed of 100 km / h is over in 4.4 counts. The top speed is electronically limited at 250 km / h.

More power

There is always boss above boss, so also within the AMG line of the GLA 45 there is an extra powerful version that gets the S-indication. This GLA 45 S has a 421 hp and 500 Nm strong variant of the same 2.0 four-cylinder. A sprint to 100 km / h is over in 4.3 seconds. This 45 S makes a speed of 270 km / h. With the AMG Driver’s Package – which of course has an additional cost – the top speed of the non-S can also be increased to 270 km / h. A Race Start function, which allows maximum acceleration from a standstill, is standard on both AMG flavors.

To handle all the violence, Mercedes-AMG has reinforced the GLA, among other things by screwing an aluminum plate under the engine. Additional reinforcement plates and diagonally placed bars on both front and rear should further increase the rigidity. The exhaust system is equipped with valves with which the level of noise can be adjusted. The four-wheel drive system is called AMG Performance 4Matic + in full and includes torque control, the ability to distribute power variably across not only the front and rear axles, but also the left and right rear wheels.

You can recognize the GLA 45 from the outside by recognizing the new AMG versions, of course, by the spoiler work and grille with twelve vertical slats. Unfolded wheel arches, a hood with power domes: these are all well-known AMG ingredients that have been scattered over the GLA.

Prices and a Dutch introduction date will follow at a later stage.
