Apple made a series of announcements at WWDC, but has much more planned in 2024. You can expect these products in 2024!
WWDC 2024 is just the beginning
At WWDC 2024, Apple announced a series of software updates, including iOS 18, iPads 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11 and tvOS 18. By introducing Apple Intelligence big changes are coming, especially for the iPhone and iPad. This year, Apple is investing heavily in artificial intelligence for the first time, launching many new features.
Apple has already held two presentations in 2024, one to announce the new iPads and the annual WWDC. Yet this seems to be just the beginning, because Apple has much more planned this year. Overview
1. iPhone 16
The iPhone 16 will be one of the most important announcements of 2024 for Apple. Many functions from the iPhone 15 Pro are coming to the ‘normal’ iPhone 16 (Plus). The phone takes over the action button and gets a completely new chip. It is expected that the iPhone 16 will have the A18 chip, which has support for Apple Intelligence. Now those functions are only available with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max).
Apple introduces a new one with the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). Capture Button, with which photo and video functions can be quickly activated. In addition, the phone gets the new A18 Pro chip and solid state buttons. Apple will probably present the iPhone at the next event in 2024, but we will have to wait until September for that.
2.Apple Watch
Another important announcement that we will see in September is the Apple Watch Expectations are therefore high, because Apple is rumored to be planning to overhaul the design of the smartwatch. We previously saw a similar update with the iPhone X, when the phone received a completely new design.

3. iPad 2024 and iPad mini
Apple has finally released new iPads in 2024, after no new tablet was released at all in 2023. The iPad Air and iPad Pro 2024 have now been released, but these are not yet all of this year’s new tablets. It is expected that the ‘normal’ iPad and the iPad mini will also be renewed in 2024. This will probably happen in the autumn, only after the iPhone 16 and the Apple Watch
Little is known about the new functions of the iPads. In any case, both the iPad 2024 and the iPad mini will receive a new processor, with which the tablets will receive support Apple Intelligence. Furthermore, the cameras of both devices are placed in the middle of the long side, so that the Apple Pencil Pro works with the iPad and iPad mini 2024. 4. Mac and MacBook
This year, Apple has already announced the MacBook Air 2024. The MacBook Pro usually follows in the autumn and this will probably be no different this year. The MacBook Pro 2024 is equipped with the M4 chip, which we previously saw in the iPad Pro 2024. You can probably also choose an M4 Pro or M4 Max chip for the advanced MacBook. These processors have not yet been officially announced, but we expect to see them for the first time with the MacBook Pro.
In addition to the new laptop, the Mac mini is also reportedly getting an update. Apple last released the Mac mini in January 2023. There is therefore a good chance that a new generation of the computer will be released at the end of this year. The Mac mini currently runs on the M2 and M2 Pro chips. The Mac mini is expected to switch to the M3 or M4 chip this year. No new generations are expected for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro in 2024.
5. HomePod and AirPods
It seems almost certain that Apple will release new AirPods at the end of 2024. The AirPods 4 will then appear and receive a major update. The earphones will probably have a longer battery life, support for MagSafe and a USB-C port. The most important change: noise cancellation is coming to the AirPods 4. This function was always reserved for the AirPods Pro, but this year it is also coming to the ‘normal’ earphones. In addition, the AirPods Max will most likely receive a new version with a USB-C port.
Apple may also release a new generation of the HomePod in the fall. The speaker came to the Netherlands for the first time last year, but the HomePod 2023 had few new functions. Not much is clear yet about the next HomePod, the device will probably be equipped with a screen. If the HomePod is released this year, it will be in the fall, when the AirPods 4 will also be released.
Next Apple event of 2024
Many of these announcements will be made at the next Apple event in 2024. Apple presented the iPhone 15 on September 12, so the iPhone 16 will be unveiled around the same date this year. So the next event won’t be until September, when we’ll also see the Apple Watch That may also be the moment when Apple unveils the new generation of AirPods.
The new MacBook Pro and iMac will probably be announced less grandly, Apple will do so via a press release at the end of 2024. The same applies to the new iPads, it is not expected that Apple will organize an event for them again. Major announcements have already been made this year with the iPad Air 2024, iPad Pro 2024, iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and watchOS 11, but Apple has much more planned for 2024.
