The camera of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) is the best iPhone camera yet. We list what the camera has to offer.
This is how good the camera of the iPhone 16 pro (Max) is
Unlike their predecessors, there is no longer a difference between the cameras of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. We’ll show you exactly what they have to offer!
Three lenses
The iPhone 16 Pro has a 48MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.8, a 12MP zoom camera with an aperture of 2.8, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 5x optical zoom and an aperture of f/2.2. There is also a 3D LiDAR scanner for depth measurement. The biggest difference with the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is that the ultra-wide-angle camera has gone from 12 MP to 48 MP. This camera has an even better quad-pixel sensor for ProRAW and HEIF photos with high-resolution autofocus.
Front camera
The front camera of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) has 12 MP and an aperture of f/1.9. That is the same camera that we also saw on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. You can definitely take excellent selfies with this camera.
Photographic styles
With the new version of the Photographic styles you can give your photos your own touch. Moreover, you can always reverse those styles. The new control pad allows you to intuitively adjust the shades and colors at the same time. And the slider changes the intensity of specific colors, instead of applying a general effect.
Camera controller
The entire iPhone 16 series features the camera control, a button on the right side of the iPhone. With the camera controller you now have faster access to all camera tools. Swipe with your finger to adjust exposure or depth of field, for example. Automatically lock focus and exposure with a gentle press. This way you can adjust the composition without losing focus on the subject. Later this year you can also use the camera controller as a two-step shutter.
4K video at 120 fps
With iPhone 16 Pro it is possible to record videos in 4K Dolby Vision at 120 fps. With the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, this is only possible at 60 fps. The 16 Pro (Max) also supports slow-motion in 4K Dolby Vision at 120 fps, thanks in part to the powerful A18 Pro chip. You can adjust the playback speed afterwards in the updated Photos app.
