A cheaper MacBook is coming, but there is a disadvantage. We tell what exactly Apple is planning!
MacBook will soon be much cheaper (with one big disadvantage)
Have you always wanted to have a MacBook, but did you find them just a bit too expensive? Then there is good news. According to usually reliable Apple connoisseur Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on the development of a much cheaper MacBook. According to Kuo, this new laptop will probably be on the market at the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Apple will change something with this new MacBook. Instead of a M -chip that you find in recent models, this budget -Macbook must get an A18 Pro -chip. This is the same chip that is included in the iPhone 16 Pro.
Yet that is not so bad, because this chip still has great performance and is probably also efficient enough for daily use in laptop format. Although he is not as powerful as the more expensive M4 chip, he is more than sufficient for tasks such as the internet, e -mailing, word processing or studying.

According to rumors, the other specifications with this cheaper MacBook remain the same. That means that he is expected to get a 13 -inch screen, just like the current MacBook Air. That of course also includes the slim and light design. It would be nice if the cheaper MacBook also became available in new colors. For example, how about a pink, yellow or blue MacBook?
Kuo says that Apple wants to produce around 5 to 7 million pieces of these MacBooks in 2026. The company finally seems to want to give a serious answer to the demand for a cheaper MacBook than the current entry model. The price is not yet known, but we expect that it will be around 799 euros.
With an A18 Pro -chip, cheerful colors, good performance for normal use and a price level below 800 euros, this new MacBook would be an affordable option for many people. We’re going to see it!
