Apple released the first beta of iOS 18.3 two weeks ago and it won’t be long before the update is available to everyone.
This is when iOS 18.3 will be released
It’s almost certain that Apple will keep the same schedule as last year for iOS 17.3. That schedule looked like this:
- Beta 1: December 13, 2023
- Beta 2: January 3, 2024
- Beta 3: January 9, 2024
- Release Candidate (RC): January 17, 2024
- Public release: January 22, 2024
This suggests that Apple will release iOS 18.3 beta 2 as early as later this week or early next week, followed by one more beta and the Release Candidate.
This is new
iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2 were relatively major updates if you include Apple Intelligence, but we have not yet been able to benefit from them in the Netherlands. iOS 18.3, on the other hand, is a much smaller release. The update focuses mainly on bug fixes and performance improvements, and does not include any new Apple Intelligence features. There may already be support for robot vacuum cleaners in the Home app. You can then control the device via HomeKit and Siri.
iOS 18.3 also brings a number of new features to Feedback Assistant. The Feedback app makes it possible to log in with Face ID or Touch ID. This is not yet possible, so you have to use your iPhone’s password every time. The Feedback app is only available to users who have installed a test version of iOS. There is therefore a good chance that you do not have the app on your iPhone.
Apple is expected to pick up the pace of updating again with iOS 18.4. Important new Apple Intelligence functions will probably appear, which we will hopefully also be able to use in the Netherlands by then. A beta version of iOS 18.4 is expected to be released later this month. The update will be released for everyone in March or April.
