WhatsApp will soon introduce a useful and much-requested new feature, which has both an advantage and a disadvantage.
This new WhatsApp feature is very useful
Meta has one beta version of WhatsApp released a new feature, which allows group members to choose whether to share recent chat history with a new member they have added. Posts shared using this feature will be highlighted in a different color, making them easier for new members to recognize.
Accessing past messages is a common and useful feature on many messaging platforms. It helps new members quickly catch up on recent discussions and access important information. WhatsApp is now getting ready to roll out this feature.

100 messages from the past 14 days
As you can see from the screenshot, some beta testers can already try out the new WhatsApp feature. The feature allows new members to receive up to 100 recent posts shared in the group in the last 14 days. Once they receive these messages, they will be notified of what was discussed in the group before they joined. New group members therefore no longer have to ask for previous messages.
To check if the feature is available, users must add a new member to the group chat. From the information screen of the group chat, select the ‘Add member’ option. Once the member is selected from the contact list, the option to share recent messages will appear at the bottom of the screen. If so, users can decide to share up to 100 messages so that the new member can quickly be notified of recent conversations.
Also a disadvantage
The disadvantage of the WhatsApp function is of course that it is easy to accidentally share things with new members this way. Things you didn’t want to share with new members. So that’s a matter of paying close attention. Fortunately, WhatsApp also gives you the option to select a smaller number of messages. This way you can still limit what is shared.
WhatsApp notifies everyone that recent messages have been sent to the new member. To maintain clarity, WhatsApp adds a new message to the group chat, with the name of the user who shared the messages with the new group member. We don’t yet know exactly when the rollout to the general public will take place. If you don’t want to miss anything, sign up for our newsletter!
