Many websites are full of annoying banners and pop-ups on your iPhone. With one simple tap in Safari you can hide those irritations and continue surfing in peace.
This way you can remove annoying advertisements on your iPhone with a tap
On many websites on your iPhone you are overloaded with moving banners, pop-ups and other (often far too) busy advertisements. This not only makes reading and surfing less pleasant, but sometimes even impossible.
Luckily, Safari on iPhone has a handy feature that lets you hide the distracting elements with one tap. In this article we explain how that works and how exactly you can set it up.

Remove distracting items on your iPhone
You don’t need any additional software on your iPhone to remove commercials and advertisements. Safari has built in a handy feature for this purpose on recent iPhones.
Remove advertisements in Safari on your iPhone without additional software
- Launch the Safari app on your iPhone;
- Open the website you want to view;
- Tap the icon on the far left of the address bar (this is the icon with the dashes);
- Select ‘Hide distracting parts’ from the menu;
- Tap the item you want to hide;
- Tap ‘Hide’ in the selection;
- Return to the address bar and tap the check mark to remove the selected item.
Do you want to go back to the normal version of the website? Then tap the icon on the far left in the address bar again. Then select ‘Show hidden parts’ from the menu.
Advertising hiding: does it work on every website?
The above function works on most articles and blogs, but not everywhere. If Safari cannot properly recognize the content of a page, the option may sometimes remain grayed out. Then the website is structured in a way and it is not possible to remove the advertising on your iPhone.
