This way you give the AirPods (Pro) a different, unique name

Apple gives your AirPods (Pro) a default name after setup. Does this indication not cover the charge, or do you have several bluetooth earbuds at home? Then it can be useful to rename the AirPods. You do this like this.

Tip: Rename AirPods

Are there several people in your household with the same name? Or have you already bought a few generations of AirPods, or do you use other bluetooth earbuds in addition? Then you have certainly noticed that the default name of AirPods is quite generic. A mistake is therefore made. Fortunately, you can easily change the name of AirPods (Pro):

  1. Open the Settings app of the paired iPhone;
  2. Go to ‘Bluetooth’ and tap the information sign behind the current name of your AirPods;
  3. Select the name, enter a new name, then tap Done.

If all goes well, the new name of your AirPods will now be used in settings and when connecting via bluetooth. The above directions work on all versions of Apple’s earbuds. You can change the name as often as you want. In the same menu you can also change other settings, such as what happens when you tap an AirPod twice.
