Due to the global warming, the Greenland ice shield thaws. The meltwater usually flows into the sea. Sometimes it can also develop destructive power, as a study now reveals. Satellite data show that in 2014 a melting water lake with such force was pressing up under the ice layer that the ice shield dismantled
