Checking your iPhone at night is quite annoying when the screen can blind you almost immediately. With this tip, that is a thing of the past forever.
This way you prevent the iPhone from blinding you at night
Maybe you know it: you just woke up, but it is still too dark to get up. What time is it? Do I have any unread messages? Still check your iPhone in the dark. But when you look at the screen you immediately regret it: it’s way too bright!
The too bright screen is not a big problem, but it is especially annoying. Fortunately, you can easily do something about that. The easiest solution is to set a dark theme on your iPhone. You can then set it to start automatically at sunset and turn it off automatically at sunrise (if you want). This means the iPhone will never be able to blind you again when you just wake up.
To automatically set the dark theme on your iPhone:
- Open the ‘Settings’ app;
- Scroll down and tap ‘Screen & brightness’;
- Choose the ‘Dark’ option;
- Turn on the slider next to ‘Automatic’;
- Tap ‘Options’ and choose ‘Sunset to sunrise’. If you want to set a time yourself, choose ‘Custom screen’.
- Tap ‘Previous’;
- Tap ‘Light’, set the ‘Automatic’ function to on and select ‘Light until sunset’ under ‘Options’.
Do you want to quickly check how the dark mode is set on your iPhone? Then open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right (on an iPhone with Touch ID, swipe from bottom to top).
Then tap the brightness control with your finger and press and hold the bar. Then at the bottom of the screen you will see the light or dark mode settings of your iPhone. This way you can be sure that your iPhone will no longer blind you at night.
