For one person the Apple font is too small, while another finds it too big. We show you how to adjust the font size and make it bold for the iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.
Adjust text size iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch
iOS and watchOS are at home in all markets: you can specify how large texts should be on your device. You can also choose to display text in bold. This is useful if you are visually impaired, for example. Below we describe how to set this up for the iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.
This is how you adjust the font size on iPad and iPhone:
- In the settings menu, go to ‘Display and brightness’;
- Select ‘Text Size’ and drag the slider as desired;
- You can also select ‘Bold Text’ here, which makes text bold. You do have to restart your iPad or iPhone after activating;
- Note: many people think that iOS does not look better when you set bold text. Sometimes words no longer fit within certain frameworks, such as with buttons. Therefore, only do it if it is otherwise difficult to read.
Do you want to enlarge the font even more? Then go to ‘General’ in the settings and scroll to ‘Accessibility’. Here, select ‘Larger Text’ and tap ‘Larger Text Sizes’. Drag the slider again to match your desired font size.
This is how you adjust the font size on your Apple Watch:
- In the settings menu, go to ‘Brightness and text size’;
- Tap on ‘Text Size’ and use the digital crown on the side to select the desired format;
- To display text in bold, move the button at ‘Bold text’ in the same menu.
