Medical data in your phone can be very important to emergency services in case of an emergency. For example, they can see your blood group and allergies at a glance so that you are helped as well as possible. We explain how to add medical data.

Let’s not be silly about it: our phones collect a lot of data. Our preferences and interests are of great value to tech companies as they can sell targeted advertising. On the other hand, it allows companies such as Meta and Google to offer free services. But if our phones collect so much information, why not relevant medical information that could save your life?

In Android you can enter medical information that on device is being saved. That is, the information never leaves your phone. Nevertheless, the data can be of extremely high value in an emergency, because emergency services can view it without having to have your PIN code. You can also set emergency contacts.

This is how you set it

It is important that you manually add the necessary information and also check an important setting. We explain how it works in the step-by-step plan below:

• Open the settings from your phone
• Tap on Safety and emergencies. The option should be visible under Location.
• Tap on Medical information
• Provide more information with the options: Name, Blood Type, Allergies, Drugs, Address, Medical Notes and organ donor
• At the bottom of Medical Information, press Change setting
• Set the option Allow access to emergency information at
• Go back twice until you get back to the menu Safety and emergencies are
• Choose Emergency Contacts
• Tap on Add contact and set up a series of emergency contacts as desired

Keep in mind that on Samsung phones, you must first tap an edit icon before you can add your medical information.
