Tip: this is how you can schedule emails with the Gmail app

Did you know that you can schedule emails with the Gmail app for iOS so that they are sent at a later time? In this tip, we’ll show you how it works on your iPhone or iPad.

Schedule your emails with Gmail

A very handy feature of the Gmail app is that you can schedule e-mail. This ensures that emails are not sent out immediately, but at a specific time. This is ideal if you are already working ahead and want to send an email on a day when you are not working, for example.

If you have written an email in the Gmail app on your iPhone or iPad, you will get various standard options to schedule it. This way you can schedule the message for the next morning, in the afternoon or only next week. In addition, it is of course possible to choose a date and time yourself. We explain it in the steps below.

  1. Compose an email and make sure you have entered the correct recipient and subject;
  2. Do not press the send icon, but the button (the three dots) next to it;
  3. You will then see various options at the bottom. Select ‘Schedule sending’;
  4. After this, the options will appear on the screen to schedule your mail. Tap on ‘Choose date and time’ to choose a specific time;
  5. Press ‘Save’ to confirm.

Cancel scheduling

Wait a while until Gmail has scheduled your e-mail, and you will receive a notification at the bottom that the message will be sent at the time you choose. By the way, you can always choose to cancel the scheduled email, or choose a different time. By doing the following.

  1. In the Gmail app, press the hamburger menu at the top left and tap Scheduled;
  2. You will then see the scheduled messages appear. Press the email you want to edit;
  3. At the top you will now see the ‘Cancel shipping’ button, with which you can ‘reset’ the email as a concept.

The Gmail app for iOS has many more useful features. For example, it is possible to snooze emails in Gmail and there are customizable swipe actions that you can set yourself. Looking for more? Then also check the extensive tip page of iPhoned.
