GIFs make everything more fun. This article explains iPhone How to set a short animation as the background on your Apple Watch. We will also show you how to create a Live Photo as a watch face.
How to use Gif as an Apple Watch watch face
GIFs are short, moving animations. The pictures dominate the internet and almost everywhere a GIF has been made. Fortunately, it is also possible to set the comic animations as a watch face on an Apple Watch. You have to convert the GIF to a Live Photo for this. That is how it works:
- Download the Giphy app on your iPhone if you haven’t already done so;
- Look for the GIF you want as a background and save the file;
- Open the animation in the Files app of your iPhone and tap ‘Edit’ in the right corner;
- At the last frame of the gif file, press ‘Set as key photo’;
- Open the Watch app on your phone and go to ‘Watch faces’, the second tab;
- Scroll all the way down and select ‘Photos’;
- Choose your desired Live Photo and add the watch face.
The gif is not working properly? Then the animation is probably too long. Then try to make the gif a bit shorter. It can also sometimes help to choose a different frame as the main photo. As a result, the gif is probably less effective, because the film is cut off prematurely.
Live Photo as wallpaper
You can also set a Live Photo you have taken as the wallpaper. In that case, open the Photos app and go to the animated photo. Tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen and select Create Watch Face. Then choose ‘Watch face’ and you can add any complications. Finally, select ‘Add’.
