Thanks to iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra, you can collaborate on a single file with others, regardless of the app. In this tip, we’ll show you how it works.
Collaborate with iCloud Drive
Working on a document with someone else can be useful in many cases. Not only if you have to prepare a presentation with a classmate, but also if you are working on a document together for your work. We show you how it works via iCloud Drive. Note: you need iOS 11 or macOS High Sierra to work with iCloud Drive.
From your iPhone
1. Open the Files app and tap “iCloud Drive”;
2. Open the folder where the document in question is located;
3. Tap on ‘Select’, then on your document, after which you press the share icon at the bottom;
4. Go to ‘Add people’ and choose the app with which you want to send the invitation;
5. Enter the contact person in question and tap ‘Send’.
From your Mac
Sharing documents from your Mac works a little differently. To do this, follow the steps below.
1. Open Finder and click on ‘iCloud Drive’ in the left menu;
2. Go to the folder where the document in question is and right click on it;
3. Choose ‘Share’ and click on ‘Add people’;
4. Choose how you want to send the invitation, fill in the person in question, and click ‘Send’.
If you have shared a file with someone, you can also adjust the options with the above step-by-step plan. In the option where you add a person, you can also choose the sharing options. Here it is also possible to delete someone with whom you have previously shared a file.
