Toyota Yaris Cross

The Toyota Yaris Cross has been named World Urban Car of 2022 in the World Car Awards. Toyota’s B-segment SUV was selected by a jury of 102 motoring journalists from 33 countries.

Introduced last year and an immediate success. The Toyota Yaris Cross has been designed and developed for the European market. The result is a car that looks and drives like a real SUV, while at the same time offering compact dimensions and good fuel consumption. The Toyota Yaris Cross is wide yet compact, has large wheels and a high seat. A powerful appearance with good all-round visibility.

Motivation

Takatomo Suzuki, Chief Engineer of Toyota Compact Car Company at Toyota Motor Corporation, said: “We are honored to receive the ‘World Urban Car’ award. Our foundation has always been to make good compact cars. This philosophy led us to develop the Yaris Cross as a compact car with ample loading space and usability, as well as sufficient power and good fuel consumption. We will use this award as motivation as we continue to develop high quality cars that can meet the needs of our customers.”

Fourth-generation hybrid powertrain

Like the Yaris, the Yaris Cross is available with Toyota’s fourth-generation hybrid powertrain. With the 85 kW/116 hp 1.5-litre Hybrid powertrain, the Yaris Cross is extremely smooth to drive thanks to the high torque at low revs. The fuel consumption is pleasantly low with a combined consumption of 4.4 liters to 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the version. The Yaris Cross is also available with only the 1.5 VVT-i petrol engine with 92 kW/125 hp.
