Transfer contacts from webmail to iPad

If you have an iPad, it is of course useful if you also have the addresses of your contacts on the PC. You can copy the Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail/Windows Live) and Gmail address books to an iPad. This means you have all contacts at hand on the iPad.

Connect Outlook.com to the iPad, transferring the address book to the device:

  • Tap on Institutions.
  • From iOS 14/iPadOS 14, tap Mail > Accounts. For iOS 13/iPadOS 13, tap Passwords and Accounts.
  • Tap on New account.
  • Tap on Outlook.com.
  • Tap on Email address, phone number or Skype name and enter your email address.
  • Tap on Next one. Then type your password and tap To register.
  • Tap on Yes to allow the app to access your data.
  • Indicate which items you want to keep on the iPhone/iPad. In any case, move the slider behind ‘Contacts’ to the right (the slider turns green). Optionally, you can also store mail, reminders, and Outlook.com calendar on the device.
  • Finally tap Keep.

To connect Gmail to the iPad and transfer the address book directly to the device:
