The App Library is an overview page on your iPhone or iPad where all your apps are automatically grouped into categories and alphabetically, making it easy to find and access them. For that reason, more and more users have placed fewer apps on their home screen.
Using a clever trick, you can quickly remove multiple applications from the Home screen on your iPhone and iPad. These apps are not completely deleted, because they remain in the app library.
App library in brief
The App Library is an overview page on your iPhone or iPad where all your apps are automatically grouped into categories so you can easily find and access them. This makes it a lot easier for users to quickly access their favorite applications, without having to scroll through countless pages of apps.

In addition, the app library contains smart folders that offer the ability to view recently added apps, as well as suggestions. Finally, you have the option to list apps in alphabetical order.
Delete apps on the home screen
Thanks to the app library, it is possible to remove applications from the home screen of your iPhone or iPad, but keep them on the device. You will then find these apps in the app library, but also via Spotlight.
Quickly clear multiple apps
Want to quickly clear multiple apps from the home screen? Then it is best to work with folders. This way you can remove all apps in this folder from the home screen in one go, but still keep them in the app library.
- Place your finger on an app you want to delete
- The apps will wobble, let go
- Then drag this app onto another app to create a folder
- Then drag all the apps you want to remove into this folder
- Tap an empty spot on the Home screen until the apps stop wiggling
- Place your finger on the folder until the pop-up menu appears
- Choose ‘Delete folder’

Move more apps at once
Did you know that you can also move multiple apps at once? Press and hold an app icon on the Home screen until all the apps start to wiggle. Drag one app slightly out of place, then use another finger to tap the other apps you want to move together so they stack. Drag the selected group of apps to the desired position, folder or another screen and release to drop them there.
