Triumph has launched the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition, the result of what they call an extensive collaboration between Triumph and the Swiss watchmaker Breitling. Simultaneously, Breitling presented a Triumph edition of their famous Top Time chronograph.
A Speed Twin, but with a special color and graced with some nice accessories, that is in a nutshell the Breitling Limited Edition, which will be produced in a – as the name says – limited edition of only 270 units worldwide. Each bike is completely unique, according to Triumph, with an individually numbered handlebar clamp bracket.
What sets the Breitling Limited Edition apart from the standard Speed Twin? To start with, as mentioned, the color scheme, which has been given the beautiful name Polychromatic Blue by Triumph. The color scheme is inspired by the legendary blue Triumph Thunderbird 6T, as immortalized in the hands of Marlon Brando in the iconic 1953 feature film The Wild One.
Triumph emphasizes that in order to get the color as close as possible to the original color, a spectrograph was used on an original book of Triumph paint samples from the 1950s. The Polychromatic Blue is a hand-mixed colour, which has been hand sprayed and hand finished with black piping and Breitling script.
In addition to the special livery, Triumph has equipped the Breitling Limited Edition with higher spec fully adjustable Öhlins twin rear springs with piggy-back reservoir and all the updates from the latest generation Speed Twin, including more power and better brakes, suspension and tires.
We’re not there yet. The Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition features machined solid aluminum clutch and alternator covers, with a subtle dark anodized finish. The saddle is also specially made for the Breitling Limited Edition and features the Breitling logo, just like the counters on the handlebars.
As mentioned, the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition will be produced in a limited edition of just 270 – a figure based on the bike having a 270° parallel twin. Each of the 270 bikes has a unique number on the handlebar clamp bracket and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by CEO Nick Bloor.
Finally, Triumph notes that all 270 buyers will also be given the opportunity to purchase their own Breitling Top Time Triumph limited-edition watch, which will bear the same unique engine number. And that’s a bit of a shame, it would have been nicer if that watch had been part of the deal.
