Trouble signing in to Dropbox? 4 possible solutions

Are you experiencing login problems with Dropbox and are you unable to access the files in the cloud? Then try these solutions if you are unable to access it.

Dropbox login doesn’t work: you can try this

1. Two-step verification is a problem

Logging in to Dropbox is very necessary for many people. They have their study projects or work documents stored there, so that they can access them on different devices. If you’ve turned on two-step verification to make your Dropbox account more secure, this can sometimes be a problem.

A simple solution to this is to open Dropbox on a device that you are already signed in to. Then you can then temporarily change your account settings from that trusted device. You can do this on your iPhone or iPad as follows.

  • Open the Dropbox app and choose ‘Settings’;
  • Go to ‘Link a Computer’ and follow the instructions on the screen;
  • Scan the qr code and you will be automatically redirected;
  • Temporarily disable two-step verification via ‘Security’.

That way you can log in with a detour without disabling two-step verification completely. This is one of the best ways to secure your account a lot better.

2. Your Dropbox password has expired

From time to time, Dropbox makes certain passwords useless because they are said to be vulnerable to hackers. If this happens to you, you will receive an email announcing this. However, this mail can end up in your spam folder, making it seem like you suddenly no longer have access to your Dropbox account.

The next time you go to the Dropbox website and log in there, a new window will appear. Here you enter the email address associated with your account. Dropbox will then send you a temporary password, which you can change immediately after logging in.

3. Delete your cookies and cache

If you are using the web version of Dropbox, the service may sometimes run into problems with your browser’s cookies and cache while logging in. As a rule, Firefox users seem to suffer from this, although it can also play a role in other browsers. Clearing your cache works differently for each browser, but you will almost always find this option in the History tab.

4. Reinstall the Dropbox app

If the login problem is specific to the iOS app and you have tried the steps above, uninstalling and reinstalling the app may help. This way you start with a clean slate and you can log in all over again. If you are still unable to access your Dropbox account after that, we recommend that you contact the support department of Dropbox.
