One of the new features on the iPhone 16 is the camera control. But if you never use that button, you might as well turn it off.
Turn off the camera control on your iPhone 16
Every iPhone 16 has an added button this year and that is the camera controller. This touch-sensitive button knows whether you press the button gently, press it hard or swipe it. By default, this button opens the camera app and swiping it lets you zoom in and out.
The button can be quite useful, because it gives you a kind of camera feeling when you hold the iPhone horizontally and have to ‘press’ a button to take a photo. However, not everyone likes the button. That’s why it’s good to know that you can also turn off the camera controller. It is also possible to add another function to it.
To turn off the camera controller on the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max, follow the steps below.
Turn off the camera control on the iPhone
- Open the ‘Settings’ app;
- Scroll down and choose ‘Camera’;
- Under ‘System Settings’, tap ‘Camera Control’;
- In the box at the bottom, choose the ‘None’ option.
During step 4, you can also choose one of the other options in the camera control instead of ‘None’ (turn it off). As standard, you also have the choice of ‘Code Scanner’ and ‘Magnifying Glass’. Other apps that support the function will also be listed here.
