Turn on energy-saving mode on mobile

Phone low or battery generally dies quickly? Enable power save mode for more battery life.

The battery of a mobile phone sometimes drains faster than is convenient. And charging is not always possible. Switch on the saving mode, or also energy saving mode, to last longer with the battery. Background tasks on the phone are then performed less often or not at all. Such as regularly retrieving mail or refreshing apps.

Enable power save mode manually at convenient times. For example, at the start of a long day out without charging options. Do this like this (as of iOS 11):

  • Tap on Institutions.
  • Tap on Battery.
  • To the right of “Power Saving Mode” is a slider. If it is white or grey, the energy saving is off.
  • Tap the slider. The background of the button turns green. The energy saver is now on.
  • Repeat the above steps to return to normal mode.

Enable power save mode for Android devices (from Android 7.0) as follows. The starting point for these steps is a Samsung device. The steps may be different for other phone brands.

  • Open the overview with all apps via the button apps (Android 7.0) or by swiping the screen from bottom to top.
  • Tap on Institutions.
  • Tap on Device maintenance.
  • Tap on Battery.
  • Tap on MID or Energy mode > Average. energy saving..
  • Tap on To apply.

The saving mode is on. Read more tips on how to make the battery last longer here.
