Turning off or restarting your iPhone is a bit of a chore, but in iOS 18 it just got a whole lot easier. We tell you what Apple has changed.
Turning off your iPhone is a lot easier in iOS 18
To turn off a recent iPhone, you have to hold down the button on the right and one of the volume buttons. If you don’t know how to do that, you can always go into the ‘Settings’ of the iPhone and turn off your device there.
But surely there must be an easier way? Apple probably thought so too, because from iOS 18, turning off your iPhone will be a lot easier. There will then be an on/off button in the Control Panel of your iPhone. You can bring up this Control Panel by swiping down in the top right corner. On an iPhone with Touch ID, you swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
If you have the Control Panel open, you will see a new button in the upper right corner (a circle with a line). By placing your finger on the button for a moment, the familiar slider appears with which you can turn off the iPhone.
iOS 18: what’s new
With iOS 18, a lot of new features are coming to your iPhone. The iPad is also getting a major update with iPadOS 18. What is particularly striking about this new version of iOS is that you get more options to customize the home screen, lock screen and control panel. For example, you can now place apps almost anywhere and it is even possible to change the colors of apps.
In addition, iOS 18 adds a number of useful functions in addition to making it easier to turn off your iPhone. For example, you can now rename Siri and Apple Maps has been expanded. You can even hide the names of apps.
