The Pathfinder has no pin mechanism to close it. It is a reversible magnetic watch band, such as the Magnetic Link straps from Apple. Strong magnets have been incorporated into the band that can be used with both the gray and orange silk. So you can choose to use the strap completely in the orange, gray or combined gray/orange. With the purchase of the strap you have, as it were, three different colors of variations at your disposal.
With the Pathfinder Strap, two loops are supplied in gray and orange. One of these loops you slide over the end stop on the short side of the strap. You slide the long side of the strap under the loop, giving you an extra security against the tape loosening.
