Do you run into problems when you open a particular app on your Android phone or iPhone? Then it may be that an update of that app is needed. It is also important to update apps regularly for security reasons. How do you keep your apps up to date? In this article we explain it.
By updating your apps you know that you always have the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet. This is very safe and also often solves some annoying bugs that you may encounter. You can manually install apps on your Android device in the Google Play Store update by tapping your profile icon and Apps and device for To update to choose. You can update all apps at once or just update specific apps.
This works pretty much the same on a iPhone, only then of course you go to the Apple App Store. Scroll down a bit and you’ll find all available updates.
Auto update
It is easier to have apps automatically update to the latest version. Then you don’t have to worry about it anymore. On your Android device in the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon again and now go to Settings†Bee Network Preferences then choose Automatically update appsâ€
Here you have the choice to always have apps update automatically, regardless of the network you use. If you do not want updating apps at the expense of your data bundle, you can choose to only update apps if your mobile device is connected to a wifi networkâ€
On an iPhone, go to the Settings app and scroll down until you see the option App Store finds. In this menu you can: Automatic downloads the slider next to Turn on app updates to let apps update automatically.
If you don’t mind apps downloading when you’re not on the Wi-Fi network, you can: Mobile data the slider at Automatic downloads to turn on.
This way you know that you always have the latest version of your favorite apps on your phone.
Old apps from the App Store
Apple is actively working on its app update policy to ensure that iPhone users are not exposed to unnecessary security risks. For example, the company recently announced that it would remove apps from the App Store that have not been updated for a long time. Google followed suit too.
If you have an app on your device that has since been removed from the app stores, that’s no problem. You can continue to use that app as before. They are just not available to new users anymore.
