Suzuki is making a model year update on the Across. The plug-in hybrid SUV borrowed from Toyota will have a faster on-board charger and a lower starting price. Double win.
In mid-2020, Suzuki came out surprisingly by presenting the Across. The SUV entered the books as the brand’s first plug-in hybrid, although the car is less Suzuki than you would say based on the front. In the same way that the Suzuki Swace is a Toyota Corolla TS, the Across is a Toyota RAV4. The Across was initially for a solid €65,000 in the order books, although Suzuki later lowered the price of its SUV by more than €9,000 to €55,900. The Suzuki Across is now undergoing a model year update that goes hand in hand with a second price cut.
Suzuki Across
Suzuki is now asking €54,900 for the Across. This price drop is not nearly as severe as the first markdown, but it does go hand in hand with a number of interesting adjustments. For example, the 18.1 kWh battery pack of the plug-in hybrid SUV can be charged faster than before. The Across had a 3.3 kW on-board charger, but now gets a 6.6 kW charger. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is not being tinkered with, so the Across of the new model year also has the well-known 306 hp powertrain, which is powerful enough to help the car reach a speed of 100 km/h in exactly 6 seconds.
Faster and quieter
The other adjustments are small, but comfort-enhancing. For example, thanks to the use of more sound-damping material in the Across, it should be just a bit quieter than before and the electrically operated tailgate can now open and close faster. In addition, the Across now has three USB-C connections and Suzuki uses LED technology for both the interior lighting and fog lamps. Suzuki delivers the Across only in one packed version that listens to the name Style. As mentioned, it costs just under €55,000. There are also options. For example, Suzuki supplies the Across in four free colors as well as in the €995 colors White Pearl Crystal Shine and – yes – Sensual Red Mica. A detachable towbar costs €1,052 and Suzuki has, among other things, a separation rack and luggage nets for the luggage compartment on the accessory list.
