An Apple Watch is very handy and fun, but not if the screen lights up during a movie in the cinema. Theater mode prevents this inconvenience. This is how you activate Apple Watch Theater Mode in three steps.
Using Apple Watch Theater mode: this is how you do it
Theater mode is one of the most practical functions of your smartwatch, but not everyone knows about its existence. Basically, it makes sure to enter silent mode and keep the screen dark. Only when you tap the screen or turn the Digital Crown does the display light up again.
The Apple Watch Theater mode is therefore a solution for situations in which a glowing screen is annoying and distracting. Think of a cinema or theater visit, but also if you use the smartwatch in bed to register sleep patterns.
Activate Apple Watch Theater Mode
- Activate your Apple Watch with the watch face on the screen;
- Swipe up to activate the Control Center;
- Tap the icon with the two masks to activate Theater mode.
You should now see an orange icon at the top of your watch face with the two masks in it. If the screen then turns off, it will no longer be activated when you turn your wrist.
Press the Digital Crown or touch the screen to reactivate the display. Is the film or theater play over? Then go through the steps above again to manually turn off Theater mode.
Theater mode has been in watchOS since 2017 and was first called Theaterstand. The name change has not changed anything else in the way it works. Theater mode is different from Do Not Disturb and Silent Mode. The first option mutes the sound of calls and the second function blocks all sounds.
