Vespa has released a special Officina 8 version of the Primavera and GTV, inspired by the most authentic origin of the legendary scooter brand. The Vespa Primavera and GTV Officina 8 have colors, materials and finishes that have to evoke the atmosphere of the prestigious experimental department of the brand, where it all started.
After the reconstruction after the war, Officina 8 was the home of the prestigious experimental department of the brand in the Piaggio factory in Pontedera. This was the most advanced area of the entire company, where the most daring projects took shape. From the end of the 1940s, designers, artists, engineers, metalworkers and test drivers worked side by side – all highly educated professionals, many of whom came from the aviation industry.
These were the years of rebirth of the whole of Europe, which had to get back on the move after the dark war years, was dragged into an incredible eruption of rebirth and creativity. A sense of rediscovered freedom and belief in a future awaiting to be built was the inspiration for a large number of visionary projects.
Officina 8 was where new ideas, including the most revolutionary, came to life for the first time: the workplace saw the design and subsequent prototypes of the first Vespa, both for mass production and for racing and breaking records. The recesses for the metalworkers, the special chassis models and the sand molding for the experimental engines were all made in -house.
The prototype was then handed over to the road testers, who traveled tens of thousands of miles on these engines before they decided which engines would be taken into production or which new competition vehicles would be built. This is where the elegant lines and timeless style of the Vespa were born.
A very coveted blue and copper pin with the words “piaggio 8”, designed to be worn on their work overall, identified the technicians who worked in the most secret and envy department within the factory.
Working in these spaces, which were inaccessible to everyone else, served as proof of the pure talent of the development engineers, engineers, designers and testers.
The Vespa that set 17 world speed and endurance records in 1950, and the land speed record in 1951, the legendary “98 Corsa,” and the models that dominated during the heavy “Six Days” Off-Road Race are just a few of the tailor-made masterpieces made in Officina 8.
Each part was made with care and craftsmanship and emphasized the handicraft that was characteristic of the very best Italian production. The talent and technical expertise within the Officina 8 was such that every vehicle that created the workplace was completely unique, a combination of the best technology of his time with the style and elegance that Vespa would make so famous.

The Vespa Primavera and Vespa GTV Officina 8 immediately distinguish themselves from the masses with their exclusive Blu Officina 8 color, an intense shade of industrial blue with a special matte metallic finish that helps to reverse the time, by calling out the industrial environments of the past: machines such as bank screws, lathes.
This color creates an original contrast with the elegant satin -like metal accents, which are also very suggestive: aluminum, which embellishes the profile of the shield and the frames of the headlights and rear lights, and brass, that the grid of the steering hood and the rims adorns, with the latter also having a diamond cutting.
Colors and materials that are typical of mechanical workshops and the world of aviation and beyond: indeed, the Vespa Officina 8 also brings back the coveted brass and blue resin pin that was proudly worn by members of the historical experimental department. On the back plate, the three -dimensional plate dedicated to this model the famous pin with a modern impact – a symbol of passion and craftsmanship.
