Videoland will soon no longer allow account sharing (and it will become more expensive)

Bad news for users who share their Videoland account with others, because that will no longer be allowed. We already know this.

Share Videoland account

After Netflix and Disney Plus, another streaming service has revealed that it will no longer be possible to share the password. Videoland is considering taking measures to prevent users from sharing their accounts. It is now still allowed to share your Videoland account with other users, even if they do not fall within the same household. That will soon change.

According to RTL, Videoland is currently investigating how to prevent users from sharing their accounts. For this purpose, the streaming service is looking at Netflix and Disney Plus, where stricter rules already apply to sharing passwords. Only users within the same household are allowed to use the same account with these streaming services. It is now known that Videoland is working on similar measures.

Higher subscription prices

So sharing your account on Videoland is coming to an end, but that’s not all. According to RTL, a price increase is also coming, which means you will pay more for your subscription to Videoland. You can currently choose from Basic (5.99 euros per month), Plus (10.99 euros per month) and Premium (12.99 euros per month). These subscription options remain unchanged, but will become more expensive.

According to RTL, this has to do with the content that is created, which requires an increasingly large budget. To cover these high production costs, Videoland will soon charge more for a subscription and it will no longer be possible to share your account. Currently, approximately thirty percent of all subscribers share their account, from which Videoland can earn a lot of money in the future.

Measures are coming at Videoland

It is not yet known how expensive the subscriptions will be. It is also unknown when Videoland will implement these measures, RTL has indicated that the possibilities are now being investigated. The company is taking the time to do this, so that users will not experience any problems when they watch Videoland while on holiday, for example. Presumably, your IP address will be used to determine whether you fall within one household when sharing an account on Videoland.

Do you want to add more people to your profile? Then you will probably have to pay extra monthly. For now that is not the case, but it is clear that Videoland is working on a way to stop sharing an account. The question is therefore not whether the measures will be introduced, but when that will happen. Are you tired of Videoland? And would you like to try out a different streaming service?
