Visual Voicemail is a useful feature on the iPhone that makes it easy to manage voicemail messages. Instead of listening to them one by one, with Visual Voicemail you see a list of messages in the Phone app. Since iOS 26, you can mark these messages as spam.
This is an important option because unwanted or fraudulent voicemail messages are annoying. By reporting them, you help Apple better recognize and block this spam. Unfortunately, Visual Voicemail is not available for all providers, we’ll explain.
Visual Voicemail Explained
Visual Voicemail shows a clear list of all voicemail messages in the Phone app. You can choose which messages you want to play, keep or delete without having to listen to them all. The messages can be listened to in any order and you will see information such as the telephone number or name of the caller.

This system is much more user-friendly than traditional voicemail, where you usually have to hear all messages one after the other. Some languages also support transcription and the voicemail message is converted to text; unfortunately this is not yet available in Dutch.
Providers that support Visual Voicemail
Apple has been offering since the first generation iPhone Visual Voicemail is on, but so far the rollout in the Netherlands has been limited. In The Netherlands be able to YouFone and KPN customers use Visual Voicemail on their iPhone for free. Also ODIDO users can use the service, but pay one per month fixed amount for. In Belgium Visual Voicemail is supported by providers Telenet, Base, Orange, Proximus and Mobile Vikings, among others.
Report voicemail as spam
Since iOS 26, Apple has added the option to report voicemail messages that you consider spam to Apple via the Phone app. This ensures that the spam is recognized and filtered more quickly, and that Apple can make improvements to their spam detection systems.
- Open the Phone app
- Tap the three horizontal lines at the top
- Choose Voicemail (or go directly to the tab in classic view)
- Tap the voicemail message from an unknown caller
- Select ‘Report spam’
- Follow the steps on the screen

In this way, Apple helps users be better protected from unwanted and potentially fraudulent voicemail messages and improves the entire user experience with Visual Voicemail.
