The Volkswagen Group provides a complete overview of the new models that will appear in 2021. The brands Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Cupra, Porsche and Bentley are discussed.
Of course we don’t make a habit of it, but today the site is filled with news from the Volkswagen Group. Not without reason, of course, because the gigantic group is today presenting its final results for 2020 and a preview of the period between now and 2030. This previously led, among other things, to an overview of plans to make the product portfolio even more uniform in technical terms. However, Volkswagen also has short-term news in store and is giving its stakeholders a concrete look at all the news that is yet to be released this year.
Volkswagen
Surprises are of course never out of the question, but the list seems quite complete. Volkswagen itself – the brand – hopes to present the ID5 this year. This car is no stranger to the regular visitor to this site, because it was featured in ‘Blik tot he Future’ this weekend. The ID5 will not be a more spacious version of the ID4, but rather a more sporty one. In other words, an electric coupé-SUV, a car that ticks all the fashionable boxes. However, there is another compact coupé SUV on the roll: the Nivus. This car can be described as a sportier alternative to the T-Cross.
In addition, there will be a number of models for outside Europe. For example, the Taos should appear in North and South America, while Russia will be served the probably largely identical Tarek.
For Europe, the facelifted Polo is of vital importance. The car has already been spotted and will soon be presented definitively. Count on a front and rear in the style of the current Golf.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
There is really big news at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, because there is a new Transporter / Multivan ready. At least, that’s what Volkswagen is saying now. Previously it seemed that the T7 is only going to be the successor of the personal versions of the current generation, but now there is not a word about it. Since there is also a Ford-based customer in this segment, we are still aiming for a ‘Transporter’ with many windows and many seats.
Audi
The biggest news at Audi is the arrival of the Audi Q4 e-tron, which we recently admired with some distracting sticker work. In short, it is Audi’s translation of the Volkswagen ID4, although the emphasis in the more expensive ‘premium’ crossover is undoubtedly less on space and more on luxury and appearance. The Q4 e-tron is the first Audi on the rear-wheel drive MEB base.
Skoda
Skoda rolls out a new Fabia. The compact Czech remains in terms of launch date nicely between its brothers Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza and appears in a completely new form when it is time for a facelift for the others. Skoda itself is also busy with a facelift, but then with the Kodiaq. With a different nose and a changed interior, that car has to be used for a few more years.
In addition, a small SUV called Kushaq will appear very soon. That car is initially intended for India, but must later also make the switch to other countries.
Seat / Cupra
Yes, more or less at the same time as the Polo, the Seat Ibiza also gets a facelift. That is not very surprising, because both types date from 2017 and are now about four years old. As previously announced, the sporty sister brand Cupra will be the first to be allocated an MEB car: the Cupra el-Born, a brother of the Volkswagen ID3. Remarkable: the Spaniards now call the car ‘el-Born’ again, after it previously seemed to simply become ‘Born’.
Porsche
The Porsche Macan already received a facelift in 2018, but will soon be under the knife again. In addition, of course not a year can pass without new variants on the 911 theme. Now that has already been secured for this year, but in addition to the new GT3, we can also expect a new ‘all-round sporty’ version of the 992. Did someone out there shout ‘GTS’?
Bentley
Bentley is all about plug-in. After the Bentayga Hybrid, another plug-in hybrid is on the way. It is probably a PHEV based on the Bentley Flying Spur. We’ll know for sure later this year!
Bugatti
The only Volkswagen brand without real news is Lamborghini, because only the Huracán STO, already presented, is planned there. We can expect something new with the even more exclusive Bugatti, because that brand is working on yet another derivative of the Chiron. Earlier we already saw the Sport, Super Sport and Pur Sport models.
