Less thick, less expensive
Good news for those who thought the Volkswagen ID Buzz was on the pricey side: the Buzz is now also available without ‘1st’. In concrete terms, this means more choice and a lower starting price, but also less standard equipment.
Like the other ID models, the long-awaited Volkswagen ID Buzz was initially only available in two different ‘1st’ versions. They were nicely equipped, always looked very complete and left little to be desired in terms of equipment, but with a starting price of €71,490 you also paid well for it.
Volkswagen now thinks it is time to say goodbye to the introductory versions and presents the Volkswagen ID Buzz as a regular Pro. The basic, somewhat simpler version is not a complete surprise in terms of appearance, because order version ID Buzz Cargo was previously relatively simple. On the new basic version of the people ID Buzz we see the same basic LED lighting, with reflectors on the front and without the continuous light bar on the nose and butt. The car is also standard in one color, with the Mono Silver Metallic shown being the only color without extra cost. Plain white or black is possible, but costs a little extra. The good news: the happy bright yellow, green or orange tones are also available, whether or not in combination with white. The colors of the exterior are also possible on the inside if desired, just as was the case with the First. The dashboard has a nicer shape as standard than that of the Cargo, where functionality reigns supreme. The non-First also brings more choice when it comes to wheels. For example, the 20-inch ones with the name ‘Stockton’ (photo 5) are new in our opinion and look nice and retro.
Technically and in terms of layout, nothing changes in the Volkswagen ID Buzz. So it still has a battery of 77 kWh and 204 horsepower on the rear wheels. In terms of equipment, we note, among other things, seat and steering wheel heating and cruise control, but again no adaptive cruise control or center armrests. That is of course all possible, but then you have to pay extra. Basically, the Buzz is slightly less expensive with the arrival of this new version: the Volkswagen ID Buzz is now available from €67,490. The previous 1st versions will expire immediately. In the future, we expect more variants of the ID Buzz, including a longer version with more seats.
